It is unclear who will ultimately get custody of Vizcarra’s daughter, [WPLG reported](https://www.local10.com/news/local/2021/10/12/officers-search-for-lost-girls-parents-in-miami/). She gives this child to this unknown man, ”Miami police Kenia Fallat told the station. “Fortunately, he was a police officer, and what was going through his mind when he went into police mode.”

The officer “called for help immediately” after the girl was left behind. Investigators are now reviewing surveillance images from the hospital, WPLG reported. “We want to know what her mental state was,” Fallat said. “We want to know what she was thinking about when she gave her child to this unknown man.” State law protects parents who drop off their children at hospitals, fire stations, or emergency medical locations, but only if they are newborns up to one week old, WPLG reported.
