Ethan Bourne was a 12-year-old from Waltham who committed suicide in his bedroom after telling his mother that he loved her while the family mourned the loss of their “little angel.”

He had started high school in September, but this was greatly affected by the pandemic. She had gone through a stage where she had a bad temper and stayed in his room but seemed to have “come out of it” in recent weeks.

Ethan had turned 12 five days earlier and was apparently living a happy life with his mother and siblings in Waltham Forest. The young man had recently moved from Redbridge but stayed with his grandmother every weekend.
He had started high school in September but attended for only three months as the pandemic forced it to close. Ethan had gone through a stage where he had a short temper and stayed in his room but seemed to have “gotten out of it” in recent weeks.
Ethan’s grandmother, Samantha Legonidet, 47, told My London: “He absolutely adored Arsenal, he loved cars, Ferraris. He loved to fish and the animals were very good with his younger brothers. He loved the PlayStation like all children of that age.
“I guess he was actually your typical 12 years old. A typical child didn’t really talk about his feelings, which is what is difficult for us now. We have so many questions about why this happened. ”Ethan was the second oldest of six children, but the oldest in his household.
Cause of Death
Ethan was found dead in his bedroom the next morning after taking his own life. Ethan’s grandmother, Samantha Legonidet, 47, told My London: “He absolutely adored Arsenal, he loved cars, Ferraris. He loved to fish and the animals were very good with his younger brothers. He loved the PlayStation like all children of that age.
Ethan’s mother had suffered a lot of trauma and she was in “a very bad place” until the 12-year-old was born. But he “changed her life and saved her in every way,” a family member said on a GoFundMe page set in her memory.
Ethan’s mother recently said, “Ethan saved my life, so why couldn’t I save his?” It’s just horrible.
His school friends have been told of the boy’s tragic death, although the school did not tell them how he actually died.
The school has said it was a “sudden loss of life,” Ethan’s grandmother said.
“That is very good and very good,” she added. “But in the current climate, this is a pandemic, no doubt a lot of people will think that Ethan died of Covid.
“But we want to make it clear that this 12-year-old boy has taken his own life.
