J $ tash, whose real name was Justin Joseph, died in Temple City, California, on Saturday. He was 28 years old.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, police heard a report of domestic violence around 7:14 a.m. New Year’s Day. Officers found the bodies of Jeanette Gallegos, 27, and Joseph at the scene.
$ tash had an argument with Gallegos and he led her into the master bedroom, where she closed the door. Their bodies were found in the room.
“The female victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while the male victim suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” officers said, according to People.
“Right now, the evidence at the scene and the preliminary information that we have from the children in the house is that this is a murder-suicide,” Lt. Derrick Alfred told KTLA on January 1 of the incident.
The three children were between the ages of 5 and 11 and were not injured. When the authorities arrived at the house, they took the children out and sent them to live with relatives.
The Associated Press reported that one of the children called her grandmother, who told them to call 911. However, it is unknown whether the call was made before or after Gallegos’ death.
Joseph had been dating the mother for about a year before her death.
Gallegos’ family opened a GoFundMe page to raise money for his funeral and express their grief over the situation.
The page was started by Gallegos’ sister, Erika Chavez, who wrote: “With great regret, my sister passed away on January 1, 2022. A tragic and unexpected loss for my family and my nephews, God has won another angel.”
The publication continued: “My sister was full of life, she was the sweetest and most caring person, she was always there for everyone who needed her. Her favorite quote is “she lives today because tomorrow is not promised”.
“My sister leaves behind three beautiful children who will have to continue living life with what remains, the memories created with her mother,” added Chavez.
