Joey Jordison Wiki – Joey Jordison Biography
Joey Jordison was an American musician and songwriter, best known as the drummer for the metal band Slipknot and also as a guitarist for the punk horror band Murderdolls.
Jordison was born in Des Moines, Iowa on April 26, 1975, the son of Steve and Jackie Jordison. He had two younger sisters. He grew up in a rural area outside of Waukee, where he used to play basketball on the street in front of his house. He embraced music at a young age, which he attributes to the influence of his parents: “They always sat me in front of the radio, instead of the television.” He played guitar until he received the first drums from him as a gift from his parents at age eight, and started his first band while he was in elementary school.

On November 28, 1995, Jordison was approached by Mark Anthony Cadavos while he was working and offered him a position on a new project called The Pale Ones. Intrigued and at a point where he was “lost”, Jordison attended rehearsals in Anders Colsefni’s basement and immediately wanted to be a part of this new band. Speaking of this moment, he said: “I remember trying very hard not to smile, so it didn’t seem like I wanted to join in, I was left with a poker face, but I thought they were the boss.” The band members discussed much of Slipknot’s early development while Jordison worked night shifts in Sinclair’s garage. Of the eventual nine members, Joey was the third to join the band. Slipknot would become pioneer of the new wave of American heavy metal. Jordison was joined by two custom drummers, giving his music a feel that Rolling Stone touted as “stifling.”
Each member of Slipknot is assigned a number; Joey was assigned “# 1”. Joey produced an album with Slipknot: 2005 Live Album 9.0: Live. In August 2008, Jordison broke his ankle and Slipknot had to cancel some of their UK tour dates. On August 22, 2009, Jordison was rushed to the emergency room for a burst appendix, less than an hour before taking the stage for the KISW Pain in the Grass concert in Auburn, Washington. As a result, Slipknot canceled the following shows in August and September, to give Jordison time to recover.
