Joshua Jamal Williams Age
Joshua Jamal Williams was 27 years old.
In the moments leading up to the shooting, Lopinto said, Williams entered the facility with a loaded gun that was drawn. A Jefferson Gun Outlet employee, later identified as 47-year-old Noah Fischbach, told him that he could not keep a loaded gun without upholstery out of the gun’s range, and an argument broke out.
Williams began shooting, authorities said, and then “got engaged” and fatally shot him.
Sources told Nola.com that Williams entered the gun exit with a pistol with an extended clip. Staff told him to unload the gun, per store policy. Williams fired a warning shot, sources said, and then reportedly shot the employee, whom the news outlet identified as Fischbach. Fischbach is a married father. Others at the exit of weapons who were also armed began to shoot.
Deanna Theis, a woman who identifies as a friend of Fischbach, shared a photo of him on Facebook.
“This is Noah Fischbach, one of the employees/victims of yesterday’s mass shooting at Jefferson Gun Outlet where he was shooting,” she wrote. “47, father, husband, just celebrated your 14th wedding anniversary. I helped him with his cat a few years ago. She loved his cat. Every time I saw him we talked about cat and animal rescue. A really good boy. Helpful and expert in his field. I saw him at the end of December. He said he needed another gun and to see him again. Then we talk about kittens. What a loss… my heart breaks for his family. ”
Heather Devall wrote on Facebook about her interactions with Fischbach at the store.
“Noah Fischbach was my favorite person in this store,” she wrote. “He made my knowledge of firearms and cartridges much better, but the constant conversations in our interactions buy what we have of him. He will never know the impact he had on our lives and even though we no longer often did. We will definitely miss him. ”
Nola.com described the scene of the shooting, where a woman who identified herself as Williams’ mother was at the scene, crying and talking to the body of her son:

Two shields were placed in the parking lot, which is normally used to block the view of the bodies. A person’s immobile hand was visible on the edge and a pistol with an extended magazine lay nearby on the ground. On a folding chair about five meters away, a woman was sitting screaming, “Josh, this is Mom. I love you.”
Lopinto described a complicated scene immediately after the shooting and said he believed there were multiple shooters.
He said at a press conference:
This is a scene in development. I will be brief about what I can give you at that time. We had an initial shooter on the scene, who hit two victims within the scene. Both have been declared deceased here in this place.
It appears that multiple people were involved with the original suspect, either on the premises or here in the parking lot. We have a total of three deceased including the two that were inside. Here, at the scene itself, we have two more who were shot and taken to the University Hospital, where they told me they are in stable condition at the moment.
From what I understand, I have multiple shooters at this location who were customers, employees, or people here at the location itself and we’re trying to put it all together and rebuild it from what we have in this developing scene.
Williams and a woman were beaten and fatally injured in the shooting, according to Nola.com, in addition to Fischbach. The woman, who was not identified, died near the broken glass door. Williams ran into the parking lot and died.

Williams died at the scene of the shooting, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto, who did not identify him by name.
“At this point, it appears that a suspect shot two victims inside the scene, then was hired and shot off the scene by many other people,” Lopinto said Saturday night. “The suspect is one of those killed at the scene.”
Officers said they found five people with gunshot wounds. Three of those people were pronounced dead at the scene and two other victims were injured and taken to a local hospital. The hospitalized victims were in stable condition shortly after the shooting.
Williams’ mother defended her son on Facebook, saying he was “murdered” and that he was not looking for a fight at the gun store that day.
“My son didn’t go into that shooting range!” she wrote on Facebook, according to Nola.com.
She added: “Joshua … was shot by … shooting range employees and other people at the shooting range! He was murdered! (Rest in peace) my love, you will be forever in my heart! ”
A relative of Williams’, who did not identify himself, told Nola.com that he does not believe Williams went to the gun store looking for a fight. He said he didn’t make sense, because the exit is often packed with off-duty cops and military veterans.
“That would be a death sentence,” said the relative.
Williams spent the day with his brother and some children before heading to the gun store, the relative said. Twitter users were shocked by the shooting and reacted with dismay to the news.
“Shocked. Totally shocked,” wrote one person on Twitter in response to the shooting.
Reporter Shay O’Connor shared a video of the scene.
“Here, at the scene where JPSO says several shootings just happened here at the Jefferson Gun Outlet. At least one dead, ”she wrote on Twitter. “We are working to find out the details of the situation. See @wdsu in 5P ”.
