Justin Burgos The teenage son of a retired NYPD major was arrested after he allegedly drove his BMW through a group of protesters in New York City, leaving an 18-year-old injured, police said.

A Twitter user who posted the video wrote: ‘Someone just crashed his car into #FireCuervo protesters just outside the 6th NYPD compound.

Police detained Burgos near the intersection of Grove and Bleecker streets.

He has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment, fleeing from an officer in a vehicle, in addition to other charges.

According to a law enforcement source, Burgos is the son of a New York Police Deputy Inspector who retired from the department in 2018.

On Thursday, Burgos was released without bail at the arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
