Cause of Death

Police said someone in a red Taurus car opened fire on a group of people who were hanging out before fleeing. Along with Allen, the police said that a 20-year-old man sitting in a vehicle was run over and seriously injured. The man remained in critical condition, FOX2Detroit reported.

According to Acting Detroit Police Chief James White, Allen is not believed to have been the target of the shooters. It was not clear whether the man had been the intended victim or another accidental victim.

“We know that Ms. Allen was not the intended target at this time,” White said. “It seems, everything indicates, that she was caught in the crossfire of someone who made the horrible decision to use a weapon to resolve any dispute they were having.”

Allen, a nursing student at Oakland University, dreamed of becoming an anesthesiologist according to her family.

“You don’t shoot innocent people. You took someone’s life and loved a loved one. It wasn’t for her, “Allen’s mother Kai Cooks told FOX2Detroit.” I want the off-street killer who did this. ”

Detroit Police Chief James White said he does not believe the shooting was random. WDIV reported that police said there were three to four men in the getaway vehicle who had not yet been identified or arrested.

Detroit police released surveillance footage of a Ford Taurus with a distinctive paint job that they said was a suspicious vehicle.

Addressing the public, Chief White called for the violence to stop and asked for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

“It is absolutely unacceptable,” said the police chief. “Everyone has gotten too tired of this tired of me telling this story over and over again.”
