A Decatur County deputy was shot Saturday night in Brinson. The shooting happened near the U.S. Highway 84 and State Road 310 as a result of a car chase that began in Seminole County.

The DCSO agent was assisting the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office with a chase when the suspect’s vehicle entered Decatur County, McCoy said.

The agency arrested a suspect in connection with this shooting, but they have a BOLO for another. Troy Arthur Phillips should be considered possibly armed and dangerous, officers said.

A Seminole County deputy was also shot in the incident and suffers no life-threatening injuries from him, Sheriff Griffin said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation because it involves a police-related shooting.
