Wesley Allen Beeler is a Virginia man who was arrested by the United States Capitol Police while trying to pass through a police checkpoint in a closed area of downtown Washington, DC. The arrest was made on Friday, January 15, where Allen was captured with “unauthorized” inaugural credentials, an unregistered pistol and more than 500 rounds of ammunition, according to court documents.

Beeler was Stopped at the checkpoint of the Capitol Building
Wesley Allen pulled into the checkpoint north of the Capitol building shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to a police affidavit released Saturday, and presented the credential that he was “not authorized to enter the Restricted area”.
Beeler was released Saturday after a brief court appearance in the Washington, DC, Superior Court. A law enforcement official said investigators do not consider him a threat to public safety.
When police asked Beeler if he was carrying weapons, Beeler told them that he had a Glock semi-automatic pistol on the center armrest, according to the court document, which indicated that the pistol was loaded.
Loaded with Guns and 500 Rounds
Police recovered the pistol, as well as 509 rounds of ammunition, shotgun shells and a magazine for the pistol, according to an incident report provided by the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department. He was arrested for possession of an unregistered firearm and possession of unregistered ammunition, among other crimes, according to the report.
An affidavit released Saturday described his credentials as “unauthorized.” Capitol Police spokeswoman Eva Malecki said Beeler had presented “a non-government issued credential.”
Beeler appeared by video conference in the hearing wearing a dark jacket and a mask. She spoke only briefly, once she told a judge “yes ma’am” when she was asked if she understood the conditions of her release. She is scheduled to return to court in June 2020.

She was ordered to stay out of DC except for face-to-face court dates and meetings with her attorney. Government prosecutors had not opposed her release under these conditions.
