A federal prisoner admitted responsibility for the 2019 murder of Christian Maire on March 30, 2023. At the time of his death, Maire was serving a prison sentence at Milan Correctional Institution for being the head of a global child abuse ring.

He was imprisoned in Milan Correctional Facility for 40 years after being found guilty of leading an international child abuse ring in 2018. According to the information obtained, Christian Maire was attacked one month after serving 40 years in prison.

According to Mercury News, Maire was the mastermind behind a child abuse network that preyed on teenage girls on the internet by pretending to be teenage boys. Hundreds of children were allegedly bred by Maire to commit inappropriate behavior for the camera, which was later posted online.

Authorities said in a statement that Alex Castro, Jason Kechego, and Adam Taylor Wright planned to kill Maire shortly after he was sentenced and admitted to the Milan Correctional Institute. The inmates allegedly broke into Maire’s cell in the detention center, kicked and stabbed her repeatedly, and then threw her down a series of metal ladders.

The suspects were also charged with assaulting a police officer who intervened to prevent Maire from being attacked. Castro, who has been in prison for 42 years after being convicted of federal drug trafficking in 2017, could spend the rest of his life behind bars for Maire’s murder. The other two inmates were sentenced to prison last year after both pleaded guilty to second-degree charges.

Kechego, who is already serving a 10-year sentence for possession of a stolen gun, was sentenced to another 28 years for involvement in Maire’s stabbing, according to Fox News. In this example, Adam Taylor Wright was sentenced to 24 years and 4 months in prison. According to Detroit U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison, Castro soon pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. According to Mercury News, Castro will be sentenced on July 28, 2023.
