According to Chief Treviño, the alleged killer said the stabbing occurred “in a moment of rage”, and the police chief described the incident as “a moment of rage that went completely out of control”.
“This is an unfortunate issue, especially since the suspect is the victim’s son and the suspect’s age is what really surprises me,” Treviño said. He also said that the Gilbert family is currently going through a difficult time burying Angela, waiting for Gary to recover, and witnessing the possible incarceration of Dallas. Dallas had previously been arrested on a drug charge.
During a press conference, Treviño revealed that police had responded to the residence in 2022 for a “verbal distress call,” even though there had been no previous major incidents at the residence. The 18-year-old had previously been arrested on “misdemeanor drug charges,” according to the police chief.
The suspect was indicted on March 22, 2023, in connection with a THC possession case in October 2022, according to Cameron County court records. Dallas was detained Wednesday (April 19th) and charged with aggravated assault and murder with a deadly weapon, Law and Crime reported.
