The help page states that the Ohlwilers were on a family walk when the accident happened. The deadly collision occurred in a community close to Mission Viejo at around 4:15 PM local time on Sunday. On the sidewalk at Antonio Parkway and Oak Tree Lane, Kyle Ohlwiler, his wife Hayley and their 11-month-old baby were taking an afternoon walk.
While they were walking in the afternoon, a car crashed in front of them and they were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, while the parents lost their children. The couple continues to recover at a nearby hospital. Daniel Lenihan, 54, a native of San Clemente, was the driver of the car. He was driving north on Antonio Parkway in a 2017 Hyundai Sonata.
Daniel Lenihan swerved off the road, climbed onto the pavement and collided with the family and the teenager tied to the stroller. Responding police identified the seriously injured family at the crash scene and took Daniel Lenihan’s silver Hyundai. Along the way, they discovered the vehicle with a shattered windshield. Daniel Lenihan was transported to the hospital shortly after the collision and was subsequently detained on charges of manslaughter and drug driving.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed this. On Sunday night, Lenihan was arrested and is currently held at Orange County Jail on a $100,000 bail. Kimmy also started a GoFundMe effort to raise money for the devastated family. The goal of the fundraiser was to raise $21,000 and in just under 21 hours it managed to raise more than $110,300 from more than 1,500 donors.
Donors also expressed their condolences for the family’s dire loss and left a number of encouraging messages. One participant said: “People are in shock right now because of this recent tragedy. A local person, Terra Pickett, claimed to have taken her son for a walk in the same place. Young Madden’s horrific accident and heartbreaking death shocked the entire neighborhood.
