The delivery man died 800 yards under his own truck while trying to stop a thief from stealing his truck.
Mark Lang, 54, from Cyncoed, Cardiff, suffered multiple injuries in hospital over two weeks after being hit by his white van while trying to foil his robbery. Lang is believed to have delivered the packages before the March 28 incident. His partner commended Mark as “a good man with a lot of love to give” after he died at University Hospital Wales in Heath, Cardiff.

Christopher Elgifari, 31, appeared in court on a busy Cardiff street accused of attempted murder. Lang is believed to have delivered the packages before the March 28 incident. Prosecutor Nicholas Evans told the judges that police were called to the scene in Cathays around 12:50 PM on Tuesday, March 28. He said Lang got out of a white Renault van to make a delivery on Laytonia Avenue, but saw it stolen.
Evans said Lang tried to stop the truck but crashed at high speed.
He was run over by the vehicle and drifted for about 800 yards before stopping on the main northern road to the center of the Welsh capital.
Emergency services took Mr. Lang to University Hospital Wales in Heath, where he was treated for brain damage and “multiple lacerations all over his body”. Using crutches on the docks, Elgifari, from Aberdare, South Wales, appeared before Newport magistrates on charges of attempted murder.
He spoke only to confirm his address, name, and date of birth.
His lawyer, Tom Trobe, said he would not plead guilty.
Elgifari, formerly from Llanrumney, Cardiff, has been detained and will appear at Cardiff Crown Court at a later date. The Crown Prosecution Service will review the charge after Mark’s death.
