The officer said he spoke to Brantley’s mother, Kelli Gordon, 36, who told her that Brantley and the boy were bathing in the upstairs bathroom, according to the police report. Gordon, who owns the house where the incident occurred, said he tried to see his daughter and boy several times “since he had been in the bathroom for some time,” but only received murmured responses that he couldn’t understand so she “went back to watching television.”

“About 10 to 20 minutes later, Ansley [sic] started screaming. [Redacted] got up and walked over to Ansley [sic] while he was holding [the baby] and told him that he couldn’t breathe, what do I do? Gordon told the officer, according to the report.
