Brandon Elliot is a New York man who kicked an elderly Asian-American woman arrested, charged with a hate crime. It is being reported that the man who was caught on camera kicking an elderly Asian-American woman in the head in New York has been arrested. Brandon who kicked the woman, 65, in the head and stomped on her several times, was arrested on Wednesday, March 31st at 1.10 a.m. in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, the New York Police Department confirmed to Newsweek.

The victim has not been identified. The official account of NYPD Hate Crime Task Force confirmed Elliot’s arrest: “Thanks to assistance from the public and excellent investigative work by @NYPDHateCrimes Detectives, the individual wanted for Monday’s March 27th assault of a 65-year-old Asian female, at 360 West 43rd St, was arrested and charged with Felony Assault as a Hate Crime,” it tweeted.
Elliot lives in a nearby hotel that serves as a homeless shelter. He crossed paths with the woman on West 43 Street near Ninth Avenue on Monday morning, where he hurled anti-Asian abuses at her first, before attacking her. Elliott yelled “F**k you, you don’t belong here” at the woman, according to the police.

The victim’s daughter’s boyfriend, Luca, said he locked eyes with her as she tried to avoid him. “She said he was walking towards her and he locked eyes with her,” he explained. “She tried to avoid him, like how people do when you walk in New York City, but he came right for her. After the first hit, she wasn’t even there,” he added. The video footage shows that he kicked her to the ground and then proceeded to stomp on her several times.
The attack was caught on camera and there were several witnesses, including staff of a residential building in front of which the attack took place. However, as the footage showed, no one came forward to help her.
The victim suffered from a fractured pelvis and bruising on the left side of her face. She was taken to NYU Langone Hospital. As per authorities, her condition was listed as stable.
The Brodsky Organization, which manages the building, posted a statement on Instagram addressing the attack. The post said that the organization “condemns all forms of discrimination, racism, xenophobia, and violence against the Asian-American community.” And that “the staff who witnessed the attack have been suspended pending an investigation in conjunction with their union.”
Charges – Arrested
He was charged with two counts of assault as a hate crime and one count each of attempted assault as a hate crime, assault and attempted assault. He was already on lifetime parole for fatally stabbing his mother in 2002, authorities said. He was freed from prison in November 2019, according to police. No other details about the murder were released.
