Incident Detail – Arrested

Eifert was found inside the home Tuesday suffering multiple gunshot wounds, Garland police said. Officers were called to the home just before 7:00 p.m. and Eifert was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers learned from the family that the victim was the mother of a couple who had recently purchased the home and was helping them move,” Garland police said in a statement.

“All evidence from the investigation shows that it was a random act of violence and that the victim did not know the suspects,” the police also said in the statement.

Police initially sought the public’s help in identifying the suspects, after video surveillance showed a man and a woman in a black Ford Fusion in the alley behind the home.

“All evidence from the investigation shows that it was a random act of violence and that the victim did not know the suspects,” the police also said in the statement.

Police initially sought the public’s help in identifying the suspects, after video surveillance showed a man and a woman in a black Ford Fusion in the alley behind the home.

“Both subjects began stealing parked vehicles and also entered the residence through the garage where the victim was killed,” Garland police said.

The video shows the suspects getting out of the car and entering the home, and later exiting the home with unidentified items. One of the suspects is also seen removing items from what is believed to be Eifert’s car.

“After committing the murder, it is believed that the suspects continued their wave of robberies in the neighborhood,” Garland police said. The two were allegedly involved in a hit-and-run within minutes of leaving Eifert, and Presley is believed to have pointed a gun at the owner of the other car.

According to Eifert’s daughter, who had just bought the house with her husband, Eifert had just sent out a two-week notice of retirement and was looking forward to helping her daughter move into her new home.

“My mom was fixing a closet for me and the new place, and some people came in and shot her dead and that was it,” Annie Bryant told local station KDFW. “She left.”

“She was so proud and so excited that I bought my first home,” Bryant said. “She just wanted to fix it the way I wanted it.”

Bryant told KDFW that her mother visited the new home after leaving work Tuesday night. Bryant’s husband is the one who found Eifert inside the house.

“If you’re going to steal, just steal, but shooting and killing someone doesn’t make sense,” Bryant said. “It was just a random act.”

Both Presley and Torres are in custody at the Garland Detention Center on bail of $ 1 million and $ 750,000, respectively.
